Keystone Blind Association houses its own low vision clinic, located at 3056 East State Street, Hermitage PA. To schedule an appointment at the low vision clinic, please call 724-347-5501.
HOW THE LOW VISION CLINIC WORKS
Visually impaired individuals are scheduled to see the optometrist, who provides a low vision evaluation. He does a comprehensive eye examination consisting of a goal oriented history, an eye health evaluation, determination of the need for regular eyeglasses, and prescription of non-refractive sight enhancement (magnification, environmental modifications, etc.). The doctor always writes a letter to the patient’s referring eye doctor, primary care doctor, and any other professionals who may be part of the patient’s health care (or sometimes educational) team, further supporting the philosophy of an interdisciplinary team approach.
